Behind the Business
Founder and Principle Trainer of The Training Surgery, Shelley Fishel, has over twelve years IT training experience under her belt, having worked for several years within a larger training organisation before taking on numerous and varied projects as a freelancer.
During her time working in companies of all sizes and types, Shelley noted time and again that delegates were desperately keen to learn the specific things which were of importance to them in their own work. Even though the rest of the course might be of general interest, the sections they really retained were those relevant to their needs and which would improve their speed and methods of working.
Shelley failed to see why so much time, effort and money was wasted on training people in areas that weren’t relevant to them when it was plain common sense they’d benefit far more from extra time spent on areas that were.
Not only, she reasoned, would this cut down on training time taken out of a working day, but would be far more constructive for that individual and hence for his/her company. And so it was The Training Surgery was born with the twin aims of offering participants and employers a full choice in what training was undertaken and options as to the duration of time allocated to it.
